BACOLOD City – There was “zero crime” during the 23-day MassKara Festival, police said.
The incidents they recorded were “isolated,” or not directly related to the celebration, according to Senior Superintendent Flynn Dongbo, city police director.
MassKara had been “generally peaceful,” said Dongbo.
A stabbing incident among minors at the public plaza involved a “love triangle,” he said.
The Bacolod City Police Office recorded no casualties, too.
Dongbo attributed this to the public’s cooperation and the effort of the police and their force multipliers.
Traffic had been manageable, too.
There were no serious traffic problem during the festival, said Superintendent Luisito Acebuche, head of the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office.
Asked to describe the festival, Mayor Evelio Leonardia said it was “beyond words” and “unprecedented in many ways.”
The influx of visitors proved that tourism in the city is upbeat, he said./PN
