MANILA – Meralco Bolts recovered from a slow start to score a lopsided 106-78 victory over Alaska Aces in the 2017 Oppo PBA Governors’ Cup last night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Reinforcement Allen Durham led the way with double-double 26 points and 18 rebounds for the Bolts.

With the win, Meralco tied Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings on top with a 7-2 win-loss record.
Rookie Chris Michael Tolomia added career-high 24 points, on six triples, while Baser Amer, Ranidel de Ocampo and Chris Newsome combined for 37 points.

The Bolts moved closer to sealing a twice-to-beat incentive in the quarterfinals.
Trailing 16-10 early in the opening period, Durham scored three straight baskets from inside to surge the Bolts ahead 20-18. The lead grew further to 28-22 with hits from Newsome and Tolomia.
The Aces kept the match close early in the second quarter but the Bolts unloaded a huge run on three pointers by De Ocampo and Tolomia to widen the lead to 58-35 at the half.
The Bolts continued its hot shooting in the second half with conversions from Durham, Newsome and Amer to build its largest lead of the match at 106-75 on a three-pointer by Kelly Nabong.
Import LaDontae Henton top-scored with 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Jvee Casio and Vic Manuel added 18 and 10 points, respectively, for the Bolts.

Meanwhile, action resumes today with San Miguel Beermen taking on Kia Picanto at 3 pm. and Kings facing Rain or Shine Elasto Painters at five in the afternoon.
