MEMBERS of the Miag-ao Taekwondo Association (MTA) topped the Congressional District Sports Association Meet after winning 13 medals.
They brought home 10 gold and three silver medals in kyorugi (sparring) and poomsae in the tournament in Miag-ao, Iloilo, according to MTA’s Melcris Villarin.
The gold medalists in kyorugi were Allison Castro, Joshua Tecson, Thomas Gerard Paguntalan, and Jhed Murata in the elementary division and Alyanna Deramas and Cyril Marie Aguirre in the high school division.
Julia Aiko and Joshua Ichiro Añasco also captured golds in poomsae. Clarence Naelga bagged one in elementary individual while Geraldine Diana got another in high school individual.
Julia Aiko, Cian Amber Nemiada and Quimselle Aguirre also got gold in poomsae team elementary girls; Joshua Ichiro, Naelga and Crisgel Castro in team elementary boys; and Joshua Ichiro and Julia Aiko in mixed pairs.
Aside from her gold medal in the individual event, Diana also won two silvers in high school poomsae in the mixed and the team girls events.
Mark Pinggol, Allan Tolentino and Aubrey Mongao served as instructors of the MTA delegation. Roices Decafe was the assistant instructor for poomsae./PN
