KALIBO, Aklan – Miss Universe candidates will no longer witness the Ati-Atihan Festival in this capital town on tomorrow.

They will be in Boracay Island in the weekend instead as part of their pre-pageant itineraries, confirmed Superintendent Pedro Enriquez, deputy provincial police director.

Early this week the Aklan Police Provincial Office said a statement that Miss Universe beauties might join Ati-Atihan.

Several bets in the international beauty pageant will have a pictorial at Shangri-La Boracay Resort Spa and Hotel, said Senior Police Officer 1 Christopher Mendoza, police-community relations chief of the Boracay Tourist Assistance Center.

They are expected to arrive Saturday morning at the Caticlan Airport (Godofredo P. Ramos Airport) in Barangay Caticlan, Malay. They will fly back to Manila later in the day.

Reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach of the Philippines will crown her successor on Jan. 30 the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City./PN
