ILOILO City – A 40-year-old man was found dead in the waters of Sitio Naluoyan in the coastal village of Sapao, Dumangas, Iloilo.

He was later identified as Marlou Amar Alabado of Barangay Pulao, also in Dumangas.

The 56-year-old fisherman Alfredo Delos Santos of Sitio Naluoyan spotted Alabado’s body around 5:30 a.m. on Monday.

It was some 600 meters away from the shoreline, Delos Santos told the police.

Alabado was only wearing a pair of gray shorts, he added.

The Dumangas police was alerted and a few hours after, Alabado’s 48-year-old sister Mary Jane came over and confirmed his identify, according to Lieutenant Commander Ramil Palabrica of the Philippine Coast Guard-Iloilo.

Alabado was last seen alive swimming at Naluoyan Beach on Jan. 8. His family had a beach picnic.

From what the police so far gathered, Alabado disappeared. The family assumed he went home ahead of them but when they reached the house, he wasn’t there.

Albado was brought to the Doronila-Azucena funeral homes in Barangay Poblacion, Dumangas./PN
