ILOILO City – A 15-year-old girl missing for two weeks was found dead in the river of Sitio Nabajo, Barangay Camambugan, Dingle, Iloilo yesterday afternoon.
The body was already in a state of decomposition, according to Senior Inspector Samuel Vipinosa, Dingle police chief.
The girl, an out-of-school youth living with her grandparents, was last seen alive on Oct. 28. She asked permission from her grandfather to leave the house around 8 a.m.
She did not say where she was going, according to Vipinosa, and when she failed to return home that night her grandparents simply assumed she stayed with relatives.
“Her grandparents said she would sometimes sleep with relatives then return home after a few days,” said Vipinosa.
The teenager was found dead around 3:40 p.m. by fisherman Joel Neri who quickly alerted the police.
The Dingle police requested the medico-legal officer of the Police Regional Office 6 to conduct an autopsy on the girl to know the cause of death.
She was found with no undergarments and the police became suspicious./PN
