ILOILO – The Provincial School Board released a total of P49,948,184.73 for various projects in 119 schools in 32 municipalities.

The projects include the following:

* repair of school buildings worth P16.495 million

* construction of school buildings worth P3.909 million

* construction of school facilities such as stage, comfort rooms, gymnasiums, perimeter fences, water and drainage systems, slope protection and other facilities worth P12.820 million; and  

* procurement of school equipment such as projectors, computers, copiers, etc. worth P670,000.

The recipient schools are located in the following towns:

* Tigbauan, San Joaquin, Tubungan, Igbaras, Oton, and Miag-ao in the 1st District

* Zarraga, San Miguel, Leganes, Alimodian, New Lucena, Santa Barbara, and Leon in the 2nd District

* Cabatuan, Calinog, Maasin, Badiangan, Pototan, Janiuay, Lambunao and Bingawan in the 3rd District

* Dueñas, Dingle, San Enrique, Dumangas, and Banate in the 4th District, and

* Concepcion, Carles, Estancia, Sara, Barotac Viejo, and San Dionisio in the 5th District.

The Provincial School Board fund will also support school-based sports development programs such as the following:  

* Iloilo Schools Sports Council Meet (ISSC) – P4,785,000, and

* training and participation in the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet (WVRAA) – P11, 268, 240.  

Zarraga’s Mayor John Tarrosa welcomed the school board’s financial support.

His town got a total of P1.1 million for the repair of school buildings of the Zarraga Central School and Balud II Elementary School, completion of comfort rooms of Don B. Jalandoni Senior Memorial National High School, and improvement of school facilities of Jalaud Elementary School.
