MANILA – Manny Pacquiao brushed off criticisms that he is taking Australian Jeff Horn lightly ahead of their match on Sunday at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia.

Contrary to some reports, he is preparing hard for the match as he aims for an impressive — if not a knockout — win to attract quality fighters in his next match.

“Reports that I haven’t been training hard are not true,” Pacquiao said. “It just happens that when some of our friends came to our training camp, we weren’t doing much and people assumed I wasn’t training hard.”

“I know Jeff is a great fighter. In fact, he is still undefeated, so I am not underestimating him,” he added. “So my focus now is just on this fight, and I don’t want to think of other fights yet.”

Trainer Freddie Roach said he can attest to Pacquiao’s intense preparation.

“He has the best work ethic in the world. He trains hard every day and we do 48 boxing rounds every day nonstop. Just work, work, work,” Roach said. “We are here to win the fight. We don’t take anyone lightly.”/PN
