MANILA – Jose Jorge Elizalde Corpuz has resigned from his post as chairman of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Corpuz quit citing “health reasons.”
Last month, PCSO board member Sandra Cam criticized Corpuz and PCSO general manager Alexander Balutan of spending P10 million for the agency’s Christmas party.
Before his appointment to the agency in September 2016, Corpuz, served as director for Integrated Police Operations for Southern Luzon.
“Mr. Corpuz, for the information of everyone, is not the person whom the President said he will fire for corruption,” Roque said.
President Rodrigo Duterte announced on Thursday he would fire another high-ranking government official.
“I am firing another chairman of an entity in government maybe this week and another set of mga policemen,” the President said at an event of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp./PN
