ILOILO City – Less than 20 percent of all private establishments in this city submit their employment reports, according to the chief of the city Public Employment and Services Office (PESO), Ma. Elena Benitez.

Based on the 2016 accomplishment report of PESO, a total of 20,493 Ilonggos were hired, local and overseas, during the past year. This showed an increase of more than 2,000 in contrast with the 2015 data of 18,086.

These reports, however, do not include the data from more than 80 percent of privately-owned businesses and agencies which do not comply with the submission of their employment reports, Benitez told Panay News.

“We will have way more than 20,000 in the record if all the establishments religiously submit their reports,” she said.

The reports submitted which are lists of the agency’s new hires with their respective positions and genders are the bases for updating the employment status record of the city.

“If they could not give us the name because it is confidential, I respect that. That’s understandable, but they can at least give us the position and the gender so that it will not be hard for us (to update). We are really hoping na sana there will be cooperation from them na mag-report para at least alam din natin ‘yung totoong estado,” she added./PN
