BACOLOD City – Three persons were designated to enforce strict monitoring of the prices of market products in the city, according to Executive Assistant Ernesto Pineda, cluster head on market.

The Local Price Monitoring Council deployed its personnel to the three main markets in the city: Burgos, Libertad and Central.

The price monitoring is a year-round activity as mandated by Republic Act 7581, or the Price Act.

Pineda stressed that since it is the holiday season already, the council must strictly monitor the prices of different products.

He added that the council will submit the result of the monitoring to concerned government agencies like the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Agriculture.

On the other hand, Pineda said there are 49 vendors who applied for a special permit to sell firecrackers and pyrotechnic products in the city.

Pineda added that they were from the 76 vendors who attended a seminar on the sale of firecrackers and pyrotechnic products.

The seminar is a requirement that the Philippine National Polcie set before securing a special permit to sell such products.

Pineda said applicants who will be granted the permit are only allowed to do business in the designated site at the Reclamation Area./PN
