ILOILO City – A newly identified drug pushing suspect was busted at the Iloilo Airport in Barangay Duyan-Duyan, Cabatuan, Iloilo.

The 33-year-old Alvin Jalandoni of Barangay Calubihan, Mandurriao, Iloilo City yielded 51 sachets of shabu around 6:30 a.m. yesterday.

The recoveries were valued at P61,000, said Senior Superintendent Christopher Tambungan, drugs oversight committee chairman of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).

The Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) carried out the sting operation.

Tambungan said it took an RDEU operative two weeks to arrange a deal with Jalandoni. The suspect then chose to conduct the transaction in the province to avoid city policemen.

“Our suspect started his illegal operation in March. Medyo nahirapan tayo mag-negotiate kasi segurista na pusher. He was trafficking illegal drugs not only in Iloilo City but in the province too,” said Tambungan.

Jalandoni’s source of shabu was Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district, from relatives of suspected drug lord Richard Prevendido, Tambungan added.

“Prevendido’s relatives took over his illegal business,” according to the police official.

Prevendido is currently in hiding. He has a warrant of arrest for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Two hours after Jalandoni was arrested, his suspected companion Oliver Tubongbanua, 36, of Barangay Benedicto, Jaro district was arrested on El 98 Street, Jaro.

Tubongbanua was apprehended after selling P30,000 worth of shabu to an undercover policeman.

Jalandoni was detained at the Cabatuan police station while Tubongbanua was taken to the Jaro police station./PN
