BACOLOD City – A man was killed while 31 others were injured in a vehicular crash in Barangay Taloc, Bago City, Negros Occidental.

Police identified the casualty as 24-year-old April Rex Villegas, who was pronounced “dead on arrival” at the Bago District Hospital.

At around 9:50 p.m. on Sept. 16, a truck driven by 28-year-old Ricardo Rojo crashed against a tricycle parked along the road in the village, a police report showed.

The truck then swerved to the opposite lane and hit a Ceres bus. The bus fell on its side and skidded on the concrete road, and the van hit a streetlight post as a result, police said.

A tricycle passenger and 27 bus passengers were hurt.

They included Rissa Torre, Shenno Torre, Jeffrey Estosane, Justin Togle, Jade Agote, Evelyn Odtohan, Roselito Calumba, Joel Buenaventura, Shaira Tenero, Steve Ernest Dulaca, Christina Mae Cadungog, Rona Jean Escora, Mark Ian Labrador, Gene Jade Elarmo, Joemon Jison, Sherwin Desponzo, Janice Salem, Jerald Gan, Arjie Villegas, Jose Kristian Clemente, Jan Michael Artifice, Mark Fernandez, Dalbert Buenaflor, Wina Lozada, Jasper Alvarez, Adelaida Fedilo, Rommel Ambino, Diego Amarado, and Jenny Altarez.

Bus conductor RJ Lachica and driver Florentino Belleza Jr. were also injured.

Rojo is facing a complaint for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and multiple serious injuries and damage to property./PN
