ILOILO City – Two robbery suspects were arrested after figuring in a road accident while fleeing.

Both residents of Pavia, Iloilo, the 19-year-old John Jun Jinco and 18-year-old Lester John Hisugan confessed to robbing a seafarer in Barangay Ungka 1, Pavia on Saturday. They were detained at the Pavia police station.

They fell from a motorcycle in Barangay Buhang, Jaro, Iloilo City after robbing 23-year-old seaman Jirson Jalbuna of Ungka 1, Pavia around 2 p.m., said Chief Inspector Jonathan Pinuela, Pavia police chief.

Jalbuna was on his way home when robbed. The knife-wielding Jinco and Hisugan took his cellular phone worth P4,900, silver bracelet worth P1,200 and P900 cash.

The teenagers also used Jalbuna’s motorcycle as getaway vehicle.

Jalbuna proceeded to the Pavia police station and reported the robbery. Policemen immediately launched a manhunt.
Jinco was arrested at the West Visayas State University Medical Center where he had himself treated for cuts and bruises.
Pinuela said the two suspects would be charged with robbery. He described them as recidivists.

“They were often caught and detained at the Pavia police station for theft or robbery. But we released them every so often after striking deals with complainants,” said Pinuela./PN
