SAN JOSE, Antique – This capital town aims to bag the Seal of Good Housekeeping from the Department of the Interior and Local Government for the third straight time.

The “Hall of Fame” contender had recently undergone evaluation by the Regional Assessment Team of the Interior department.

Superintendent Norby Escobar, municipal police chief, said they all hope the town gets the Seal for the third time.

“This year, peace and order was included as criterion,” Escobar said.

During the evaluation, the San Jose police station presented its accomplishments in the antidrug campaign.

They have accounted for 350 suspected drug dealers and/or users who surrendered.

These junkies have yet to undergo drug testing and assessment by the Rural Health Unit. After which, their rehabilitation could start, said Escobar.

Police said Barangay Pantao has been declared “drug cleared.” No other villages have been declared the same during the first quarter of this year due to the intensified criteria for the declaration.

Meanwhile the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils as well as the municipal counterpart were very active, Escobar said.

The cash award that came with the Seal last year was used by the local government in buying heavy equipment. (PNA)
