MANILA – San Miguel pulled away in the second half to score 109-97 against TNT in Game 3 of the 2017 Oppo PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals last night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Alex Cabagnot led the way 28 points, nine rebounds and six assists with for Beermen, which tallied their second consecutive win in the best-of-seven series to take a 2-1 lead in the race-to-four finale.

Import Charles Rhodes added double-double 25 points and 20 rebounds, while Chris Ross and Marcio Lassiter chipped in 17 and 16 points, respectively.

While Beermen survived a subpar play by June Mar Fajardo, who was limited to 6 points, Katropa’s Game 1 top scorer, rookie Roger Pogoy (with career-best 27 points), was held scoreless for the second straight game.

Trailing 47-46 at the half, San Miguel started strong in the third frame behind Lassiter and Rhodes to take a 62-52 edge. TNT rallied to within 64-60 but conversions by Cabagnot stretched Beermen’s lead 79-72.

TNT remained within striking distance early in the final quarter but San Miguel managed to push the lead to double figures on conversions from Rhodes and Santos.

Katropa made their last push behind import Joshua Smith to come to within 6 points but San Miguel went on a run to build its largest lead 101-88 on a layup by Cabagnot.

RR Garcia top-scored with 19 points, while Smith had double-double 18 points and 14 rebounds for TNT./PN
