MANILA – TNT KaTropa quickly moved on from the departure of Ranidel de Ocampo to score a 112-107 win over NLEX Road Warriors in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

Import Glen Rice Jr. achieved triple-double 25 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists for KaTropa, which moved up to solo fourth place (6-3) after the Wednesday night match at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

Kelly Williams added 19 points and eight rebounds while Jeth Troy Rosario, Jayson Castro and Moala Tautuaa had 17, 13 and 12 points, respectively, for TNT.

“The last few days were really tough for us,” said KaTropa head coach Nash Racela. “We should just accept the departure of Ranidel and move forward right away.”

KaTropa struggled early in the match before going on a huge run behind Rosario, Williams and Rice for a 20-all deadlock. Conversions from Tautuaa and Castro allowed KaTropa to widen the lead 33-24.

Road Warriors countered with a run behind Carlo Lastimosa and JR Quinahan to come to within 37-39 but consecutive points by Rice allowed KaTropa to take a 50-46 halftime lead.

KaTropa started strong in the third frame to build a 55-48 lead on triples by Rice but Road Warriors had another run to come to within 3. Baskets from Williams and Rice allowed KaTropa to pull away 83-75.

NLEX came up with a rally early in the fourth to tie the count at 86. KaTropa had hits from Roger Pogoy and Castro for a 92-86 lead, and then Road Warriors tied the scores for the last time at 101-all.

KaTropa then went on a 6-0 blast from Rice and Williams for a 107-101 edge before Road Warriors trimmed this to 106-107. A triple by Castro and free throws by Williams sealed the victory for TNT.

Aaron Fuller finished with double-double 28 points and 18 rebounds while Alex Mallari and Larry Fonacier added 19 and 10 points, respectively, for Road Warriors, which dropped to 7-3./PN
