UST, Adamson dash to Premier V-League finals

MANILA – University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses outlasted Ateneo Lady Eagles, 20-25, 25-20, 25-16, 19-25, 16-14, in the do-or-die semifinals of the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at the San Juan Arena.

Ejiya Laure top-scored with 21 points, on 17 attacks, three aces and a blocks on Sunday while Janna Torres and Ennajie Laure added 14 and 12 markers, respectively.

After a back-and-forth action, the match went down the wire in the fifth frame with the Golden Tigresses hanging on to a 13-11 lead on a Maji Mangulabnan ace. But the Lady Eagles answered with back-to-back hits to tie the score at 14-all.

Ennajie put the Golden Tigresses back at match point with an off the block hit before Lady Eagles’ Pauline Gaston committed an attack error to seal the championship spot of UST.

Nisperos posted 23 points with 22 coming off attacks while Erika Raagas and Jules Samonte had 10 and 11, respectively, for the reigning UAAP women’s volleyball titlist Lady Eagles.

Adamson University Lady Falcons punched the other seat in the best-of-three titular showdown, which will start on Oct. 9, after a 25-18, 14-25, 25-17, 25-15 beating of College of St. Benilde Lady Blazers.

Trisha Genesis fired 20 points, with 13 coming from attacks, six from service aces and one from block, to lead the way for the Lady Falcons./PN
