ILOILO City – Two cousins — the top two most wanted persons in Badiangan, Iloilo — have surrendered to the authorities.

The 25-year-old Jake Dave Lopez (No. 1) and the 23-year-old Kenny John Jaspe (No. 2), both of Barangay Bitaogan, Badiangan, were charged with murder.

Their case was pending before the sala of Regional Trial Court Judge Marie Yvette Go, said Chief Inspector Dennis Pamonag, Badiangan police chief.

Go issued an arrest warrant against them on June 18, 2013 yet and set no bail.

The two turned themselves in to Lopez’s father, former Bitaogan barangay captain Jonie, around 6 p.m. on June 30.

They were detained at the municipal police station.

They were accused of shooting to death Jonel Asturga sometime in 2012 at the Budiawe barangay hall during a drinking binge, Pamonag said.

“The suspects heard we were hunting for them. They feared something might happen to them if they didn’t surrender,” said Pamonag./PN
