Who shot Sipalay driver and why?

BACOLOD City – Police were still identifying the suspects and the motive in shooting a driver in Barangay Camindangan, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.

The 37-year-old resident Jonel Villarosa died, a police report showed.

He sustained gunshot wounds on the different parts of the body, the report further stated.

Investigation that the Sipalay City police conducted showed that three men were responsible for Villarosa’s death.

Villarosa works for merchant Metchian Gregorio, also a resident of Barangay Camindangan. The shooting happened around 8:40 a.m. on Tuesday, the market day in the place.

Villarosa was on a tricycle he drives parked about 2 meters from Gregorio’s kiosk when two of the suspects gunned him down while the other served as lookout, police said.

The suspects fled to the mountainous area in the village after the shooting, witnesses told the police.

Barangay Camindangan village chief Uldarico Vingno turned over to the police two slugs of a .45-caliber pistol he recovered from the crime scene.

Dr. Katrina Dyann May Pastolero of the Sipalay City Health Office conducted a post-mortem examination on Villarosa’s body./PN
