BACOLOD City – A woman survived an attempt on her life by pretending to be dead.
The 18-year-old Ana Rose Zuniega was checking her Facebook Messenger at around 12 p.m. on Nov. 10 under a mango tree in Sitio Golingan , Barangay Payao, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental when someone struck her with a stone on the head, a police report showed.
The police only identified the suspect as “Budoy,” Zuniega’s neighbor.
Zuniega was on her way home that day when she decided to take a rest under the tree, said Chief Inspector Anthony Grande, chief of the Binalbagan police.
Budoy had struck Zuniega several times, investigation revealed.
Zuniega said she pretended to be dead, that was when Budoy dragged her to a sugarcane plantation and left her there.
Zuniega then lost her consciousness, she said.
Around 3:30 p.m. on the same day, Zuniega’s sister found her, bathed with blood.
Zuniega was rushed to the Binalbagan Infirmary and later transferred to a hospital in the city.
The attending physician said Zuniega sustained serious injuries. She was currently under treatment.
Binalbagan police have yet to locate Budoy and determine the motive in the incident./PN
