BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has deployed around 1,000 police officers to secure the city this Holy Week.

Lieutenant Colonel Ronnie Brillo, BCPO spokesperson, said they are stationed in transport terminals, resorts and places of worship.

Brillo added that cops are also closely guarding the city’s BREDCO and Banago ports to secure passengers, particularly those traveling to Iloilo and Metro Manila.

As of yesterday, the situation at the said ports remained normal. However, the BCPO expected the number of travelers to increase around Holy Wednesday afternoon, March 27.

Meanwhile, in a radio interview, Vallacar Transit Incorporated (VTI) legal and media relations manager Jade Seballos said there will be no changes to their bus trips during the Holy Week period.

However, Seballos said they will temporarily halt their trips to southern Negros from 12 noon to 2 p.m. on Good Friday, March 29, while normal trip schedules will still be observed for trips heading to the northern part of the province.

As of this writing, the BCPO and the Philippine Red Cross have set up their assistance desks at the Ceres North and South terminals.

Seballos said the riding public can view their bus trip schedules at their official social media page.

As the province continues to experience hot and dry conditions, VTI also reminded travelers to avoid exposing themselves in the sun, and to bring plenty of water to avoid heat stroke. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
