ILOILO City – Various police units across Western Visayas executed 84 anti-drug operations in a span of one week that resulted to the confiscation of around P12 million worth of illegal drugs and arrest of 114 drug suspects.
Data from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) showed that from September 9 to 15, police seized 1,789 grams of suspected shabu and two grams of marijuana.
The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office made the highest number of arrests at 42, followed by the Iloilo City Police Office (23), Iloilo Police Provincial Office (18), and Bacolod City Police Office (16).
One notable operation was recorded in Barangay San Pedro, Molo, Iloilo City. The suspect identified as alias “Boss” was caught with approximately P1,020,000 worth of suspected shabu on September 10.
Another significant operation was carried out on September 12 in Barangay Vista Alegre, Bacolod City. Police seized P918,000 worth of illegal drugs from alias “Stephen” tagged as a high-value individual.
All suspects are currently under police custody, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PRO-6 director Brigadier General Jack Wanky lauded the police units for their dedication and further called for continued vigilance and collaboration between law enforcement and the community to combat illegal drug proliferation./PN
