CAPIZ – Authorities arrested 14 fishermen for alleged illegal fishing along the coastline of Panay town in this province.
The suspects, all residents of nearby Pilar town, were caught onboard three motorbancas, lacking necessary permits, on Wednesday, November 6.
During the operation, officials from the Panay Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) confiscated fishing gear and approximately 25 kilos of assorted fish as evidence.
Authorities said the vessels operated without the required documentation, making their fishing activities unlawful.
The suspects remained in custody of the Panay police pending further investigation./PN
