ILOILO City – Two village councilmen face charges of violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. They were arrested yesterday in separate police operations in Iloilo province.
The 33-year-old Vic Carros, councilman of Barangay Cabugao Viejo, San Enrique town, was arrested at his house around 5:30 a.m.
Policemen raided Carros’ house and recovered a .45 pistol with six live ammunitions and two spent bullets shells of a .45 pistol.
According to San Enrique police chief Senior Inspector Fernando Punzalan, neighbors complained that Carros often fired a gun.
“So we applied for a search warrant,” said Punzalan.
Carros was detained at the San Enrique police station. He failed to show a gun license, according to Punzalan.
Jhonard Tupaz, 43, a village councilman of Calangag, Batad, Iloilo, was arrested, too, following a police raid of his house.
The Batad police received information that the suspect was hoarding an unlicensed .45 pistol.
Cops failed to find a gun at Tupaz’s house but they recovered six live ammunitions of a .45 pistol.
