2 drug ‘peddlers’ fall in Molo; high-grade ‘marijuana’ seized

ILOILO City – Two suspected drug pushers were nabbed in a buy-bust operation on Timawa Avenue, Molo district.

Police identified the suspects as 19-year-old Friyole Vergara of Barangay Compania Central, Molo district and Jiro Melendez, 20, of Barangay Hibao-an, Mandurriao district.

Prior to the arrest, undercover cops of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RDEU) transacted to Vergara (subject of the operation) with his cohort Melendez around7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Recovered from their possession were two sachets of suspected kush or high-grade “marijuana” and a P1,200 marked money.  

Operatives of the RDEU-6 said the suspects’ source was in Metro Manila. The illegal drugs were then shipped using an online courier service.

Vergara and Melendez were detained in the lockup cell of the Molo police station.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them./PN
