MANILA – As the issue about “ninja cops” continues, President Rodrigo Duterte revealed two “generals” remained engaged in illegal drug trade.

Duterte, in a speech at the Valdai Forum in Russia on Thursday, warned the two “not destroy my country” as he did not elaborate whether they were from the police or the military.

“When I took over, I found out about nine generals (who) were involved in the trafficking of drugs,” Duterte said. “And right now, even as I fly here and go back, there are again about two generals who are still playing with drugs.”

“Well, I told you do not destroy my country because it is being flooded with drugs,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Senate is investigating the alleged recycling of drugs bared by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) chief Aaron Aquino.

In the said probe, outgoing Philippine National Police chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde allegedly attempted to intervene in the case of 13 supposed “ninja cops,” who violated various operation procedures in a drug bust in 2013.

Former PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chief and now Baguio City mayor Benjamin Magalong alleged that Albayalde asked Aquino, then-PNP Region 3 director, not to implement the dismissal order, which Albayalde denied./PN
