2 high-value targets nabbed with P3.6-M worth of illegal drugs

ILOILO City – Two high-value drug suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation that yielded at least P3.6 million worth of illegal drugs on Saturday night, July 26, along Sunset Boulevard in Barangay Sooc, Arevalo district.

The suspects, identified only by their aliases “Bensoy,” 23, and “RM,” 30, both residents of Barangay Calumpang, Molo district, were apprehended around 10:45 p.m. after allegedly selling P12,000 worth of suspected shabu to an undercover operative from the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RDEU-6) of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).

Apart from the buy-bust item, authorities seized approximately 530 grams of suspected shabu with a standard drug price of P3.6 million.

According to Captain Glen Soliman of RDEU-6, the suspects had been under surveillance for several days following reports that they were actively involved in illegal drug trade.

Police added that Bensoy has relatives currently detained at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City, who are allegedly linked to a drug syndicate.

“The suspects were in possession of a large volume of illegal drugs due to their connections inside the jail. They also used a vehicle to distribute the contraband,” Soliman said.

The suspects are currently detained at Police Station 6 and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002)./PN
