ILOILO – Police arrested two drug suspects and confiscated more than 83 grams of suspected shabu worth around P564,000 during a buy-bust operation in Sitio Camendes, Barangay Bancal, Carles, Iloilo, at around 10:13 p.m. on September 16.
The suspects, both laborers, were identified only by their aliases as “Pandoy,” 46, a high-value individual from Balasan town, and “Boy,” 40, married, considered a street-level suspect from Carles.
Confiscated from the duo were two small and eight medium sachets of suspected shabu, buy-bust money, and various non-drug-related items.
The operation was carried out by the Carles Municipal Police Station (MPS) in coordination with the Iloilo Provincial Police Office–Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit Team 3.
Police Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan, Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director, lauded the successful operation.
“This operation that led to the arrest of drug personalities and the seizure of illegal drugs is clear proof of our unwavering commitment to keep Western Visayas free from the menace of illegal drugs,” Ligan said.
He added: “These accomplishments are not just numbers, they mean safer streets, protected families, and stronger communities. I commend the dedication of our personnel and call on the public to continue supporting our campaign because together, we can build a drug-free and more secure Western Visayas.”
The suspects were detained at the Carles MPS and face charges for violating Sections 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), and 26 (Attempt or Conspiracy) of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Convictions under Sections 5 and 11 carry penalties of life imprisonment and fines ranging from P500,000 to P10 million./PN
