SIBALOM, Antique – Two senior citizens here tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
One was a 73-year-old male, Sibalom’s case No. 11. Symptomatic, he was being treated in a hospital in Iloilo City.
The other case was a 66-year-old male on home quarantine for being asymptomatic. He was the town’s case No. 12.
According to Mayor Gian Carlo Occeña, these two cases were confirmed just this Wednesday, March 24.
Contact tracing was immediately launched by the Municipal Health Office (MHO).
Occeña alerted barangay officials and the Barangay Heath Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs). Minimum public health standards must be enforced – wearing of facemask and face shield, observing physical distancing and washing of hands properly.
The mayor also urged the people of Sibalom to restrict their movements. Leave the house only when extremely necessary such to buy food or essential goods.
“Everyone is advised to stay at home. Barangay councils are again advised to put in place safety protocols for the welfare of everyone,” said Occeña./PN
