27 Negocc capitol workers to face penalties for flunking drug test

BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental’s Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz confirmed that the 27 capitol employees who tested positive for illegal drug use will still face appropriate penalties pending the confirmatory drug test results.

Diaz clarified that the confirmatory drug test only aims to find out the amount of illegal drugs in the system of the aforementioned employees.

Twenty employees initially tested positive for drug use and seven others assigned at the provincial government-run hospitals also flunked the tests.

The provincial administrator said he has the list of the drug-positive employees and the departments they are working in, however he again refused to divulge their identities.

Diaz is set to meet with Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson on Friday, Jan. 5, to discuss the results of the drug testing in the provincial government.

Previously, Diaz said job order or contract of service employees who will test positive for drug use will not have their work contracts renewed.

Regular employees, meanwhile, who may test positive for drug use will likely undergo administrative hearings. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
