ILOILO City – Three died during the fiesta celebration in Sitio Baron, Barangay Jelicuon, Cabatuan, Iloilo yesterday.
Roger Ebarle of Barangay Janipaan Central, Cabatuan and Juan Baron of Barangay Jelicuon were shot.
Roger Someros, on the other hand, was stabbed. He was a resident of Barangay Jelicuon, too.
The shooting and stabbing happened around 1 a.m. From what the police have so far gathered, Ebarle and Baron were binge drinking at a kiosk.
Baron tried to talk to Someros but the latter ignored him then walked away.
Someros fired a gun twice and this caught the attention of Baron’s brother, village councilman Jonathan Baron. He asked what was going on.
Ebarle tried to talk to Someros, too. A commotion ensued.
According to Chief Inspector Engelbert Banquillo, Cabatuan police chief, Ebarle stabbed Someros on the chest.
Someros, though wounded, was able to shoot Baron and Ebarle.
Baron was hit on the torso and right thigh. Ebarle had gunshot wounds on the head and chest.
Responding policemen recovered from the crime scene four empty bucket shells and two live ammunition of a .45 pistol and an 18-inch knife.
Banquillo did not discount the possibility that there were other persons involved in the fatal commotion.
“Several bursts of gunfire were heard. Ang crime scene medyo madulom,” said Banquillo./PN
