
HAMTIC, Antique – Thirty-one families (130 individuals) here left their homes due to rising floodwaters on Thursday afternoon.
The evacuees were from the following barangays:
* Calacja 2 – 16 families (69 individuals)
* Asluman – 15 families (61 individuals)
They took shelter in their respective barangay halls, according to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).
Three houses were totally wrecked by the floodwaters while six along the riverbank were partially damaged in Barangay Calacja.
There were no reported casualties.
According to PDRRMO chief Broderick Train, tributaries of Asluman River overflowed in Barangay Calacja 2.
Torrential rains pounded Hamtic on Sept. 16.
A box culvert got damaged in Barangay Calacja 1, rendering part of the Hamtic-Iloilo highway impassable to heavy vehicles.
Vehicles going to Iloilo were rerouted to the coastal road in Anini-y, Antique./PN
