ILOILO – A 70-year-old man tagged as one of the most wanted persons in Lambunao town was finally arrested by authorities on Tuesday afternoon, June 10, more than three decades after a warrant for his arrest was issued.
The suspect, known by the alias “SL,” a farmer and resident of the town’s Barangay Binabaan Limoso, was apprehended at around 4:10 p.m. in Barangay Poblacion Ilawod by the tracker team of the Lambunao Municipal Police Station.
The arrest was made by virtue of a warrant issued in 1989 for the crime of murder. No bail was recommended for the case.
The operation was also supported by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s (IPPO) Provincial Special Operations Group.
Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), lauded the operatives for their diligence and persistence in the campaign against fugitives.
“This arrest underscores the unwavering commitment of PRO-6 in pursuing wanted criminals. We will not relent until justice is served to the victims and accountability is upheld,” Wanky said.
The suspect is currently under police custody and will be turned over to the court of jurisdiction for proper disposition./PN
