8-hour power outage to hit parts of Bacolod

BACOLOD City – An eight-hour power interruption will hit parts of this city on Oct. 16 due to maintenance activities, the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) said.

In an advisory, Ceneco announced that consumers connected to Asdes-Gonzaga Feeder 4 will experience the brownout from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Power interruptions will be experienced in Malaspina Street to Ilang-ilang Street, going to Ylac Avenue, Villamonte Proper and Barangay Villamonte.

The power cuts are due to preventive maintenance for upgrading, explained Roel Venus, chief of the Ceneco Member-Consumer Integrated Services Division.

“This is to ensure the reliability of distribution lines to avoid further damages that could cause major power interruptions,” Venus said.

Lolita Jayme, officer-in-charge of Ceneco, said consumers were advised that in the event of any power interruption, electrical switches should be turned off for safety reasons.

When electricity supply resumes, please provide allowance of about 10-15 minutes before switching on all electrical appliances and facilities to avoid power surge, Jayme said./PN
