ILOILO – Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Western Visayas are mounting, but so is the number of patients recovering from the viral illness.
Data from the Department of Health showed Region 6 recently logged an average of 989 recoveries daily: Sept. 26 (1,012); Sept. 24 (868); Sept. 23 (1,219); Sept. 22 (1,039); and Sept. 21 (809).
As of Sept. 26, a total of 107,671 patients recovered from COVID or 84.70 percent of the cumulative confirmed cases in the region.
Yesterday, an additional 609 recoveries were recorded.
Majority of the positive cases were either quarantined/isolated in various Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facilities (TTMF) in the region or on home quarantine.
As of Sept. 26, around 4,667 or 26.76 percent of the 17,443 total TTMFs beds in the region were occupied.
Meanwhile, as to admission in hospital by type of COVID-19 classification, 13 percent or 228 were asymptomatic; 35 percent or 587 mild; 32 percent or 536 moderate; 15 percent or 271 severe; and four percent or 71 critical.
On the other hand, with the 641 additional positive cases recorded yesterday, total active cases in the region now stood at 16,518. Death toll reached 2,941./PN
