BACOLOD City — A fundraising activity dubbed “Run Ko, Pag-asa Mo – Hua Ming Fun Run/Walk 2014” will be held on Aug. 17 at the Provincial Capitol Lagoon.
Sponsored by the St. John’s Institute (SJI) Alumni Association, the activity aims to gather funding for the association’s scholarship program.
It will have the following run distance categories: 16k (kilometers), 10k, 5k, 3k, and 1 mile (1.6k). It is open for everyone.
There will also be a 5k Batch Group Walk, which is open to all high school groups of four batch mates.
The Quan Group Walk Challenge will be a side event. It will be participated by the Capitol Ville, Sta. Clara and Kolasa Walkers.
Assembly time is at 4:30 a.m. Race time for 16k will be at 5 a.m. The 10k, 5k, 5k Batch Walk, 3k, and 1.6k races will follow at 15 minutes interval.
Registration fees are as follows: 16k, P450; 10k, P400; 5k, P350; Batch Walk, P350 per walker; 3k, P300; and 1.6k, P100.
All participants will have race bibs as well as refreshments after the race. Those who will sign up for the 3k, 5k, 10k, and 1.6k races will get a T-shirt each.
Participants in the 10k and 1.6k races will be awarded finisher’s medals.
Runners/walkers will wear transponder-enabled race bibs (10k and 3k) and shoe tags (16k) mounted with the strider timing chip.
More than 1,300 joined this fundraising event last year. Organizers hope to have the same number of participants this year.
Medals, prizes and gift certificates await the winners.
Registration is ongoing at the Run Club, Robinsons Place Bacolod, Chris Sports at The District, and SJI Alumni Office.
