BORACAY – Beach party-goers turning up for Labor Day concerts and raves are expected to reach more than 67,000.
The Municipal Tourism Office of Malay anticipates 67,225 tourists for “LaBoracay” this year — an 11-percent increase from last year’s 60,441 (April 25 to May 2). In 2015, there were 56,247, data showed.
Of the expected revelers, 48,000 will be local, according to Chief Tourism Operations Officer Felix Delos Santos.
Events lined up for LaBoracay this year include Globe Sunkissed Boracay, Boracay Music Festival, FHM Boracay Grind, Boracay Sunset Foam Party, Hydro LaBoracay 2017, Summer Shinding, and Super Paradise.
International and local artists, models and celebrities will headline these events.
The beach parties are also expected to leave tons of garbage.
Delos Santos encouraged LaBoracay partygoers to clean as they go.
“Be a responsible and respectful partygoer — responsible for your own garbage and respectful to our local ordinances,” he stressed.
LaBoracay is considered the biggest and wildest beach party in the Philippines.
Some 44,500 partygoers turned up for the 2012 edition, 56,308 in 2013 and 58,147 in 2014. (With Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
