ILOILO City – Fire struck 11 houses in Barangay Concepcion, City Proper on Thursday evening.
Eight were destroyed while three were damaged, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
An electrical short circuit may have caused the blaze that lasted almost two hours, the BFP said, citing initial investigation.
Fire Officer 2 Denmark Macoco told Panay News they estimated the cost of damage at P1 million.
The fire originated from the second floor of the house of Juliana Diel, Macoco said.
“Madasig nga naglapta ang kalayo sa iya mga kaiping nga balay,” he said.
The houses were a mix of concrete and light materials, said Macoco.
The BFP responded to the fire alarm at 8:12 p.m.
Firefighters declared the blaze under control at around 8:40 p.m. and announced a “fire out” at around 10:34 p.m.
Diel was one of the owners of the destroyed houses.
Others were Josefina Gabito, Kenneth Diel, Nenita Balajadia, Rudy David, Leah Clarence, Dhalia Daylisan, and William Tullo.
