ILOILO City – A barangay tanod (village watchman) in Barangay Agbobolo, Ajuy, Iloilo was arrested yesterday for allegedly selling shabu.
Operatives from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and Ajuy police station caught the 29-year-old Wilfredo Landar around 12:30 a.m.
Chief Inspector Charlie Sustento, Ajuy police chief, told Panay News Landar was a “low-value target” in their antidrug campaign.
“Ang monitoring naton sa subject was almost five months kag nabudlayan kami to kay nabukid nga bahin ang area,” Sustento said.
Police said Landar sold a plastic pack of shabu to an undercover officer for P300.
Three bigger plastic packs of shabu and a disposable lighter were further seized from him.
Sustento claimed that Landar — who has been a tanod for six years already — was trafficking prohibited drugs in Ajuy and the nearby Sara.
Detained at the Ajuy police station, Landar was facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
