MAASIN, Dumangas and Pavia men’s volleyball teams advanced to the semifinal round of the 2017 Biron Cup Inter-municipality Invitational tournament after beating their quarterfinal foes.
Bracket B top seed Maasin arranged a semifinals duel with Bracket C leader Concepcion after defeating Balasan 25-6, 25-12 Sunday night at the Dumangas gym.
Dumangas ousted Guimbal 25-21, 25-14 to advance to the next round and face Pavia, which eliminated Passi City 25-16, 15-25, 25-21 in a match at the Pavia gym.
Knockout semifinal matches Maasin versus Concepcion and Dumangas versus Pavia will be held this Saturday at the Dumangas gym.
The championship series between the semis victors will be a best-of-three affair.
On the other hand, the titular showdown in the women’s volleyball between San Miguel and Pavia was tentatively scheduled for this weekend.
“We are still arranging the venue for the match,” tournament director Ruding Villaruz told Panay News.
“We will announce as early as Tuesday the schedules of the championship series,” he added.
San Miguel reached the finals after a 22-25, 25-14, 25-12, 23-25, 15-12 victory over Balasan, while Pavia scored 25-22, 25-17, 25-16 against Dumangas in the semis./PN
