ILOILO City – The commander of the Philippine Army’s 301st Brigade based in Dingle, Iloilo, Brigadier General Arnold Quaipo has left Panay Island for a higher post – as chief of the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Quiapo has been serving Panay Island for over two years already.

His replacement is Lieutenant Colonel Eric Unchida, his assistant brigade commander.

Quiapo is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Matikas” Class of 1983.

Known to be a silent worker, Quiapo was made the 301st Brigade commander in December 2011, replacing Ilonggo commanding general, Caesar Ronnie Ordoyo.

“I love the Ilonggos. They are hospitable and friendly. I gained more friends here and I can’t forget this place,” Quiapo said.

After super typhoon “Yolanda” struck November last year, Quiapo mobilized his men to help those displaced.

One of his achievements in Panay Island was the Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Council’s Implementing Plan on Security covering vital government and private projects, facilities and equipment.

He also spearheaded numerous community development projects.

Before his Panay assignment, Quiapo had served as chief of staff of the Philippine Army’s Training and Doctrine Command in Tarlac; Group Commander, K-9 Company of the Army’s Intelligence Service Group; and Battalion Commander of the 39th Infantry Battalion, 6th Infantry Division in Mindanao.

Quiapo had taken specialization courses and trainings in military and civilian schools here and abroad such as the Overseas Joint Warfare Course at the Australian Defense Force Warfare Center; Counter Terrorism Training at PMA; and Command and General Staff Course./PN
