BACOLOD City – The police chief of Hinigaran municipal station was relieved from his post.
Senior Inspector Lawrence Bathan will transfer to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) on Aug. 22 pending an order of transfer to Malacañang.
The transfer was directed by Police Regional Office 18 (PRO 18) director Chief Superintendent Edmund Gonzales, said Nocppo officer-in-charge Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil.
Earlier, Hinigaran mayor Nadie Arceo requested Castil to replace Bathan as municipal police chief.
Arceo accused Bathan of removing three names from the town’s drug watchlist.
But Castil did not heed Arceo’s request.
“I will not relieve Bathan unless there is an order from the regional director or from the chief of the Philippine National Police,” said Castil.
Chief Inspector Jake Barilla, from PRO 18, will assume Bathan’s position./PN
