ILOILO City – A businessman and his nephew were arrested in Barangay Baybay Norte, Miag-ao, Iloilo.
Alex Nulada’s house was raided and policemen recovered the following:
- grenade
-
.45 pistol with two magazines
-
KGMM pistol with two magazines
-
85 live ammunitions for a .9mm pistol
-
35 live ammunitions for a .45 pistol
-
two gun holsters
-
ammunition cage for a 12-gauge shotgun.
The raid was carried out around 4:45 p.m. on Aug. 30.
Miag-ao policemen and operatives of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) secured a search warrant from Judge Nelita Jesusa Bacaling of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 67.
Andrada’s house, which was a few meters away from Nulada’s, was also searched.
The police recovered a homemade shotgun, a .45 pistol with three magazines and assorted ammunitions.
Nulada and nephew Andrada were taken to the Miag-ao police station.
According to Chief Inspector Norlan Perante, Miag-ao police chief, they received information that the suspects possessed unlicensed firearms and explosives so they applied for a search warrant.
Nulada reportedly owned commercial buildings, a hardware store, gasoline station, rice mill, and grocery store.
According to Perante, Nulada and Andrada were not in the Miag-ao police’s watch list of suspected drug personalities.
“We have never received information that they were into illegal drugs,” he said./PN
