ILOILO City – Four men from Barangay Gahit, EB Magalona, Negros Occidental were arrested in Banate, Iloilo for alleged illegal fishing.
The following were accused of using Danish seine, a police report showed:
- Romeo Arroyo, 44

Angelo Arroyo, 21

Alvin Salas, 24
They may be charged with violation of Republic Act 10654 (an Act to prevent, deter and eliminate illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing), which amended the Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998.
Elements of the Banate police station and the Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force caught the suspects at the municipal waters of Barangay San Salvador around 5:45 a.m. on Sept. 14.
A set of Danish seine fishing nets, a weight, two rolls of scaring lines, a half-tub of assorted fish, and boat MV Inday Nilda were seized from them, the police report stated./PN
