BACOLOD City – A test run for the delivery of bulk water across the city is ongoing, according to the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa).
Jenelyn Gemora, Baciwa assistant general manager, said the test run started on Nov. 4 after supply from the Bacolod Bulk Water, Inc. (BBWI) passed the laboratory test for water quality.
According to Gemora, the test run will help them determine the technical problems that may arise when bulk water delivery fully begins.
Leakages and other concerns are being checked through monitoring devices, she added.
Gemora said she cannot yet determine how much time the test run will take.
But even if BBWI starts its full delivery, Gemora admitted that bulk water will still not be available in some areas in the city since the supply is only from Injection Point 1 in Barangay Granada.
BBWI is still processing the requirements for the operation of Injection Point 2 in Barangay Mansilingan.
The delay may be until December, said BBWI.
BBWI earlier assured Baciwa that from Injection Point 1 alone, it can deliver 15,000-cubic meter to 30,000-cubic meter of bulk water to the city daily.
The 25-year bulk water project contract was signed between Baciwa and the BBWI – composed of Mactan Rock Industries, Inc., Tubig Pilipinas Group, Inc. and TGV Builders, Inc. – on March 2, 2016.
The project is worth P1.1 billion./PN
