MANILA – Meralco Bolts and his agent denied there were negotiations to trade Terrence Romeo of GlobalPort Batang Pier.
Contrary to reports, the Gilas Pilipinas mainstay did not request Batang Pier to trade him to a contending squad, his agent Nino Reyes said.
For the past two years, “these so-called sources have been saying that Terrence Romeo will be traded,” Reyes said in a statement. “Let the GlobalPort team owners decide and let him play.”
It has been reported that Romeo have been requesting GlobalPort to trade him since the Commissioner’s Cup after several seasons of failed playoffs stint.
The former Far Eastern University Tamaraws star was reportedly headed to Meralco Bolts in exchange for Baser Amer and Chris Newsome before the start of the 2017-2018 PBA Philippine Cup.
In a separate statement, Bolts also denied there was any such negotiation between the team and Batang Pier.
GlobalPort drafted Romeo fifth overall during the 2013 PBA Draft.
In his four years of stay with Batang Pier, the farthest he went was a semifinals during the 2016 Philippine Cup./PN
