ILOILO City – Two suspected “bookies” bet collectors were caught in simultaneous operations in barangays Pani-an and Ipil in Balasan, Iloilo.
Ariel Celiz, 56, of Barangay Pani-an was arrested in the same village while Rose Ann Barrido of Estancia town was nabbed in Barangay Ipil.
Both were facing illegal gambling charges.
Officers caught them collecting bets for the illegal numbers game at around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, a police report showed.
Gambling paraphernalia and P3,040 cash were seized from them.
Celiz and Barrido were detained at the Balasan police station custodial facility./PN
