MANILA – The Philippine National Police’s Internal Affairs Service (IAS) recommended the dismissal from the service of 58 police officers for their alleged involvement in various illegal activities.
Among such illegal activities were kidnapping, robbery, extortion, and illegal drug trafficking, according to IAS head Inspector General Alfegar Triambulo.
“Majority ng respondents na pulis ay assigned sa (Northern Police District),” Triambulo said in a statement.
Among those dismissed were 10 officers accused of robbing the house of Gina Erobas in Barrio Santa Rita, Barangay 188, Tala, Caloocan City in September.
Police Officers 1 Ricky Arquilita and Jeffrey Perez, who were tagged in the death of 19-year-old Carl Angelo Arnaiz in August, who were also of the Caloocan police force, were dismissed as well.
“Iyong findings namin (on Arquilita and Perez) base doon sa physical and testimonial evidence gathered by our investigators, talagang sinadya. May intensyon talaga na patayin si Arnaiz,” Triambulo said.
Triambulo said the recommendation was sent to the office of PNP chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa for his signature. The move was part of the police force’s “internal cleansing,” he added./PN
