ILOILO City – A gasoline station in Barangay Apologista, Sara, Iloilo was robbed yesterday afternoon.
Two helmet-wearing robbers used a motorcycle to flee.
The heist was carried out around 1:21 p.m., according to Inspector Gilbert Baldevarona, Sara police chief.
One of the robbers had a .38 revolver, the cashier of Flying V gasoline station told the police.
The gas station lost P30,000.
From what the Sara police so far gathered, the two men were spotted at a nearby store prior to the robbery.
They likely waited for the opportune time to strike – when there were no customers at the gas station, said Valdebarona.
At the time of the robbery the gas station had two personnel only – the cashier and the gasoline attendant.
The one with the .38 revolver trained it at the cashier while the other pointed his at the gasoline attendant, said Baldevarona.
The robbery was swift.
“It took less than a minute,” according to the police chief.
The robbers fled toward Barangay Labigan, Sara and the adjacent town of Lemery.
The cashier and attendant immediately alerted the Sara police station.
As of this writing, the robbers’ identities remained unknown.
Senior Superintendent Marlon Tayaba, police provincial director, deployed some personnel from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Sara Public Safety Company to the Sara police station.
“We hope the robbers would be arrested,” said Tayaba.
Sara is 98 kilometers north of Iloilo City./PN
